Description

The MARTA Summer Cardigan is a light and airy mohair cardigan with a small shawl collar and slim sleeves. You can choose between two different hem and sleeve finishes (brioche stitch or I-cord).

The cardigan is worked top-down in one piece using increases along the shoulder yoke and by picking up stitches from the knitted sections. First, the back collar is started with a provisional cast-on and worked in both directions. Then stitches are picked up along the long edge of the collar and increases are worked along the shoulder yoke. At the beginning, short rows (optional) are worked simultaneously to shape the back neckline.

After completing all increases along the shoulder yoke, the right front piece is worked first, then the back piece, and finally the left front piece down to the armholes. The pieces are then joined together under the arms and the body is finished in one piece. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up from the armholes and worked in the round.

Thanks to the top-down construction and the straight, boxy cut, the length can easily be adjusted. The cardigan can be worn casually open or styled very femininely with a slim belt. The narrow shawl collar gently frames and warms the neck. The slim sleeves also allow the MARTA Summer Cardigan to fit perfectly under a rain parka, making it ideal for autumn and winter as well.

The pattern includes a detailed schematic with all measurements, a blank schematic for notes or conversions, and a technical drawing for the short rows at the back neckline.

Please note: The construction is identical to the V-Neck Jumper. The Summer Cardigan simply begins with a provisional cast-on and the front band contains more stitches.
