MARTA Cardigan
Description
The MARTA Cardigan is a simple, modern cardigan in a minimalist style with charming details such as the garter stitch front band, balloon sleeves, and cuffs in slip-stitch rib. The cardigan is worked top-down in one piece and is perfect to wear as a transitional jacket in spring.
Description
The hip-length oversized cardigan with garter stitch front band is worked from the top down and gains its slanted shoulder shape through increases along the shoulder line. Then the left front piece, the back piece, and finally the right front piece are worked separately down to the armholes. Afterwards, they are placed back onto one needle and finished together.
The sleeves are attached directly by picking up stitches from the armholes and are worked in the round. The long sleeves combined with the narrow sleeve cuffs create the desired balloon effect. All cuffs are worked in slip-stitch rib.

PATTERN AND GAUGE
- 10 x 10 cm = 9 stitches x 12 rows
- Main pattern: stockinette stitch (RS knit, WS purl)
- Worked with 4 strands held together using 10 mm needles, or adjust needle size to obtain gauge in the main pattern.
- Front band pattern: garter stitch (knit every row; slip the first stitch of every row purlwise with yarn held in front; always knit the last stitch)

NEEDLES
- Cast-on with 7 mm needle and work the first row with an 8 mm circular needle (a short cable would be sufficient here, but of course you may also use a long cable).
- Circular needles 9 mm and 10 mm with 80 cm cable, and short 10 mm circular needles with 20 cm cable (S | M) or 35 cm cable (L | XL) for the sleeves.
- The narrower sleeve cuffs can be worked using a 9 mm circular needle with a long cable and the Magic Loop method.
