Description

DESCRIPTION

The KIRA Jumper is a relaxed basic sweater with strongly dropped shoulders, a round neckline, and slim sleeves. The model is knitted from the top down.

The back and front neckline are shaped with increases, and the back and front pieces are first worked flat in rows down to the armholes. Under the arms, both pieces are joined and then worked in the round.

For the sleeves, stitches are picked up from the armholes and also worked in the round. All hems are loosely bound off in stockinette stitch, creating a lovely rolled edge.

Finally, a double-face or I-cord trim is attached to the neckline and, optionally, stitches for the rolled edge are picked up from it.

PATTERN and Gauge

Pattern: Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side), knit in the round.

Note: I knit very tightly. Since my purl stitches are looser than my knit stitches, I used a needle size ½ smaller for the wrong-side rows to achieve an even stitch appearance.

2 strands with Yarn Option 1 or 3 strands with Yarn Option 2

Using 6 mm needles on right-side rows and 5.5 mm on wrong-side rows, or needle size to match gauge (washed): 10 x 10 cm = 14 stitches x 19 rows
