KIM Shirt
Description
The KIM Shirt is an airy, lightweight mohair shirt that can be styled casually with jeans or a skirt, or worn over a summer dress as a cardigan alternative.
Tip: Wear it with a tank top underneath and casually tuck it into your pants or skirt.
Description
The short-sleeved mohair shirt with dropped shoulders is worked seamlessly in one piece from the top down. The stitches for the shoulders and sleeves are started using a provisional cast-on, while the stitches for the neckline are cast on in one piece using the long-tail cast-on and then joined in the round. An illustrated step-by-step guide can be found in the appendix.
After knitting the back piece and then the front piece, the lower sleeve seams are closed using the Kitchener stitch (grafting), creating an invisible, seamless finish.
The shoulder slopes and the wide neckline are shaped using short rows, while the curves under the arms are formed with decreases.
The body is straight-cut and finished with a short brioche-style hem (“Glattpatent”) to prevent the edge from rolling.
The shirt can be knitted in several color variations. The yarn requirements for the following versions are included in this pattern: solid color, 2-color marled, 3-color marled with color change in the body, or with stripes.
