Knitting Pattern ELLA Jumper: Batwing sweater with V-neck and slim sleeves – knit your own (Top-Down).

Description

The ELLA Jumper is a trapeze-shaped oversized sweater that drapes similarly to a batwing sweater. The jumper is worked from the top down (top-down construction) by picking up stitches from the knitted sections. You begin with the first front band and the first front piece, shaping the dropped shoulders using short rows. Increases are worked for the deep V-neck and decreases for the sleeve slope, knitting down to the armhole.

The second front piece and the back piece are then directly attached by picking up stitches and also worked down to the armhole. Afterwards, all three pieces are joined on one needle in the round and finished together. Additional decreases are worked for the side shaping at the lower body.

The sleeves are also attached directly by picking up stitches from the armholes. Thanks to the top-down construction, the model can easily be adjusted to personal measurements. The pattern includes a detailed schematic with all required measurements.

As a design element, the jumper features beautiful garter stitch rows and wide slip-stitch ribbing at the hem and sleeve cuffs.

The sweater has a very loose fit; if in doubt, choose one size smaller.

PATTERN AND GAUGE

Note: Steps 1–3 are worked flat in rows; from Step 4 onwards in the round. Since knit stitches are often worked tighter than purl stitches, a smaller needle size is used for the wrong-side rows to achieve an even stitch appearance in both rows and rounds.

TIP: For the half-length sleeves, sizes XS and M require one ball less.
